TRT & Hazmat Course/Conference Scholarship

The Strong Stitch is proud to offer a scholarship to assist full-time firefighters within the geographical boundaries of Polk County with advancing their education in Technical Rescue or Hazardous Materials training. Below are the official rules and conditions for eligibility, application, and award.
1. No Purchase Necessary
There is no requirement to purchase any products or services from The Strong Stitch in order to apply for or be awarded this scholarship.
2. Scholarship Award Coverage
The scholarship will cover only tuition and lab fees for the selected Technical Rescue or Hazardous Materials course. Expenses such as travel (including gas), lodging, meals, or other incidental costs will not be covered by the scholarship.
3. Eligible Courses
The course or conference must specifically relate to Technical Rescue or Hazardous Materials. Other courses or training will not be considered.
4. Eligibility Requirements
• The applicant must be a full-time firefighter employed by a career fire department within the geographical boundaries of Polk County, Florida.
• Volunteer or part-time firefighters are not eligible for this scholarship.
5. Application Requirements
To apply, the applicant must submit the following:
• A 300-500 word essay detailing why they should be selected for the scholarship. This essay should outline their commitment to the fire service, professional goals, and how the course will benefit their career and the department.
• The course or conference they wish to attend, including the course dates and location.
• Application must be emailed to TheStrongStitch@outlook.com
6. Selection Process
All eligible applications will be reviewed by a scholarship review panel selected by The Strong Stitch. The panel will evaluate applications based on merit, including the quality of the essay and the relevance of the course to the applicant’s professional development. The decision of the scholarship review panel is final.
7. Scholarship Award Conditions
• The applicant must attend and successfully complete the course for which the scholarship is awarded.
• If the scholarship recipient fails to attend the course or does not successfully pass the course, the recipient agrees to fully reimburse The Strong Stitch for all scholarship monies paid.
• Failure to comply with this condition will result in disqualification from future scholarship opportunities and may result in legal action to recover the awarded funds.
8. Non-Transferability
The scholarship is non-transferable. If the scholarship recipient is unable to attend the course for any reason, the scholarship will be forfeited, and a new recipient may be chosen.
9. Disclaimer
The Strong Stitch reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the scholarship program at any time for any reason, including but not limited to changes in funding, legal requirements, or other unforeseen circumstances.
10. Agreement to Terms
By applying for this scholarship, the applicant agrees to abide by all rules and conditions outlined above. The applicant also agrees that if selected as the scholarship recipient, they will represent themselves and The Strong Stitch with professionalism and integrity during the course of their training.
11. Legal Release
By submitting an application, applicants agree to release and hold harmless The Strong Stitch, its owners, employees, affiliates, and scholarship review panel from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of participation in the scholarship program or the use or misuse of any funds awarded.
